Child Care Now Nova Scotia regularly organizes events, actions, and rallies for our members and supporters, and leverages our social media platforms to raise awareness and agitate for policy change to improve the lives of educators and families throughout Nova Scotia. Here’s a handful of our most impactful actions and campaigns.

All I Want for Mother’s Day is Child Care and Midwifery
May 5, 2024
In partnership with the Association of NS Midwives, Child Care Now Nova Scotia hosted a family-friendly event celebrating mothers, caregivers, Early Childhood Educators (ECEs), and midwives at Halifax’s Peace and Friendship Park. The event aimed to highlight the importance of having a strong child care system and midwifery services throughout the province. The event was well-attended by organizational supporters and community members, with families enjoying fun activities, games, and learning about the importance of child care and midwifery services.

Families for ECEs Rally

Child Care Now Nova Scotia organized rally in support of ECEs at Halifax’s Peace and Friendship Park to push for strengthened working conditions and wages for ECEs throughout the province. We encouraged supporters to express their solidarity remotely by sharing chalk messages on social media with #thetimeisnow.
Child care centres in Ahmerst, Cole Harbour, Glace Bay, Bedford also participated remotely, key organizational partners (CUPE NS and Justice for Workers NS) and many key political figures (NDP MLA Gary Burrill, MLA Kendra Coombes) joined as well.
The Time is Now

Over 700 Nova Scotians from communities throughout the province participated in this campaign, sending letters to their local representatives and bringing light to the challenges faced by critically-needed Early Childhood Educators (ECEs).
